Marine Awareness

Marine awareness is gaining international recognition. In the process of revising the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping Code [STCW] the IMO is considering the inclusion of marine environmental awareness.

ProSea has been providing marine awareness courses since 2001.

For ProSea marine awareness is personal knowledge of the importance and diversity of the marine environment, recognition of the impacts of our activities on the (marine) environment and the willingness to use solutions that lessen the impact and contribute to a clean and responsible sector.

ProSea considers marine awareness to be more than knowledge. Marine Awareness is knowledge that is processed and incorporated into an individual’s thinking and actions. This processed and incorporated knowledge has consequences for an individual’s attitude and actions toward the marine environment.
