Mission statement

The sea is huge. Impressive. Often very beautiful. It is important to mankind, to plants and animals, and essential for our global climate. The sea is also a great economic resource. The sea, however, can be threatened; it is being threatened!

Worldwide tens of millions of people work at or with the sea each day. 3.5 million people work daily in mercantile shipping alone! Each of these individuals has influence on the seas. ProSea calls these people, marine professionals.

ProSea works to reduce the threats to the seas caused by marine professionals.

ProSea believes that marine professionals have a special relationship with the sea and a special responsibility to the sea. Anyone who works at or with the sea needs to know about the sea. Awareness of the sea combined with understanding the effect of shipping on the seas, needs to be a part of all marine professional’s education.

ProSea offers this knowledge and marine awareness to fulfill its mission of working with these marine professionals to achieve ecological sustainability of the oceans and commercial sustainability of the businesses using the oceans.
